Ingredients

  • 2 tbsps. Crisco® Pure Vegetable Oil
  • 1 cup uncooked long grain rice
  • 1 small onion
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tbsps. raisins
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/8 tsp. ground cardamom
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper

Directions

  • Step 1

    HEAT oil in large saucepan. Add rice and onion. Cook over moderate heat, stirring constantly until golden brown.

  • Step 2

    ADD water, raisins, salt, cloves, bay leaf, cardamom and pepper. Heat to boiling. Cover and reduce heat. Simmer 20 to 25 minutes or until rice is tender. Remove cloves and bay leaf.

  • Step 3

    Serve with lamb kabobs or seasoned pork tenderloin.
