Ingredients

  • 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 2 tbsps. Crisco® Pure Canola Oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 (16 oz.) bag frozen green peas
  • 1 tbsp. minced flat-leaf parsley
  • Salt and pepper

Directions

  • Step 1

    COMBINE reserved bacon drippings and oil in large saucepan. Over medium heat, add onion and cook about 3 minutes. Stir in flour. Cook, stirring constantly, 2 to 3 minutes, or until light brown. Gradually whisk in broth. Heat to boiling.

  • Step 2

    ADD peas. Cover and reduce heat. Simmer 5 minutes or until peas are warmed through. Stir in parsley, salt and pepper. Sprinkle with crumbled bacon.
