Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp. Crisco® Pure Vegetable Oil
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots
  • 1 1/4 lbs. ground beef round
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • Dash hot pepper sauce
  • 8 whole wheat light sandwich buns

Directions

  • Step 1

    HEAT oil in large skillet over medium heat. Add onion, celery, green pepper and carrots. Cook and stir until tender.

  • Step 2

    ADD meat. Cook until browned, stirring occasionally. Drain. Stir in ketchup, water, chili powder, salt, pepper and hot pepper sauce. Reduce heat to low.

  • Step 3

    SIMMER 15 minutes or until thick enough to spoon onto buns.
