French Onion Soup

Ingredients
- 1 (1 lb.) extra large sweet onion
- 2 tbsps. Crisco® Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening
- OR 2 tbsps. Crisco® Baking Sticks Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening
- 1 clove garlic
- 2 tbsps. all-purpose flour
- 2 (14.5 oz.) cans beef broth
- 1 (14.5 oz.) cans chicken broth
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- Seasoned croutons
- Grated or shaved Parmesan cheese
Directions
- Step 1
PEEL onion. Cut in half lengthwise, then crosswise into thin slices.
- Step 2
MELT shortening in 3-quart saucepan. Add onion and garlic. Cook over medium heat for about 20 minutes, or until onion is soft and transparent, stirring occasionally.
- Step 3
STIR in flour. Add beef broth, chicken broth and Worcestershire sauce. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 15 minutes.
- Step 4
LABLE soup into individual serving bowls. Top with seasoned croutons; sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
