Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsps. soy sauce
  • Pinches ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 lb. lean beef, such as flank steak or boneless sirloin
  • 2 tsps. cornstarch
  • 2 tbsps. cold water
  • 3 tbsps. Crisco® Pure Vegetable Oil
  • 1 tbsp. chopped fresh ginger
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 bunch green onions
  • 1/4 lb. fresh snow peas

Directions

  • Step 1

    COMBINE broth, soy sauce, cinnamon and pepper in shallow dish. Add beef. Marinate 30 minutes.

  • Step 2

    COMBINE cornstarch and water in small bowl. Stir to dissolve.

  • Step 3

    HEAT oil in wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ginger and garlic. Stir-fry 30 seconds. Add beef, reserving marinade. Add carrot and green onions. Stir-fry 3 minutes or until beef is no longer red.

  • Step 4

    ADD reserved marinade. Cook 2 minutes. Add snow peas. Cook 2 minutes or until snow peas are bright green. Stir in cornstarch mixture. Cook 1 minute or until thickened. Serve immediately.

  • Step 5

    Other vegetables can be used: Broccoli flowerets or sliced celery in place of the carrot. One medium onion, peeled and sliced in place of green onions. Fresh or frozen green peas in place of snow peas.

  • Step 6

    It is easier to slice meat thinly if it is partially frozen. Wrap the steak in plastic wrap and freeze 15 minutes. Always cut meat against the grain unless a recipe specifically says to slice it with the grain.
