Ingredients

  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 2 tbsps. Crisco® Pure Vegetable Oil
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 large garlic clove, minced
  • 1 to 3 tsps. chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 (14.5 oz.) can Mexican-style stewed tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp. cider vinegar
  • 1 (4 oz.) can chopped mild green chiles
  • 1/4 cup apple juice concentrate
  • Hot cooked rice

Directions

  • Step 2

    HEAT large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook ground beef, stirring as needed, until browned. Drain. Heat oil in skillet. Add onion and garlic. Cook and stir 3 minutes or until onion is tender. Add chili powder, salt, pepper and cinnamon.

  • Step 3

    ADD tomatoes, breaking up with spoon into small pieces. Stir in vinegar, chiles and apple juice concentrate. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat to low. Simmer, uncovered, stirring occasionally, 20 minutes or until thickened. Serve over hot cooked rice.

  • Step 5

    COAT slow cooker with Crisco® No-Stick Cooking Spray.

  • Step 6

    HEAT large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook ground beef, stirring as needed, until browned. Drain. Place in slow cooker. Stir in onion, garlic, chili powder, salt, pepper, cinnamon, tomatoes, vinegar, chiles and apple juice.

  • Step 7

    COVER and cook on LOW 4 to 6 hours or on HIGH 2 to 3 hours. Serve over hot cooked rice.
