Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Crisco® Pure Vegetable Oil
  • 1/4 cup Crisco® Puritan® Canola Oil with Omega-3 DHA
  • 1 medium onion
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/3 cup lemon juice or vinegar
  • 3 tbsps. sugar
  • 3 tbsps. prepared mustard
  • 3 tbsps. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp. grill seasoning
  • 1 1/2 tsps. chili powder
  • 3 lbs. fresh chicken breast halves, thighs and drumsticks, rinsed and patted dry
  • Salt and pepper

Directions

  • Step 1

    HEAT oil in small saucepan over medium heat. Add onion. Cook 5 minutes, or until soft. Add ketchup, lemon juice, sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, grill seasoning and chili powder. Simmer 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  • Step 2

    HEAT grill or broiler while sauce is simmering.

  • Step 3

    SEASON chicken generously with salt and pepper. Place on grill on medium heat or about 8-inches from broiler.

  • Step 4

    BASTE with sauce after about 15 minutes. Turn chicken. Baste again after 10 minutes. Cook 5 minutes longer or until chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165ºF and juices run clear, turning and basting as needed.

  • Step 5

    Instead of chicken pieces, 4 skinless, boneless chicken breasts, flattened to an even thickness, can be used instead. To cook, baste with sauce immediately. Turn after 5 minutes. Baste again. Grill 3 to 5 minutes, or until chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165ºF. and juices run clear.
