Baked Chicken with Sweet and Spicy Sauce

Ingredients

  • Crisco® Original No-Stick Cooking Spray
  • 4 tbsps. Crisco® Pure Vegetable Oil
  • 1 (2 1/2 to 3 lb.) broiler-fryer chicken
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1/3 cup chopped onion
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup chili sauce
  • 2 tbsps. honey
  • 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp. celery seed

Directions

  • Step 1

    HEAT oven to 350ºF. Spray 13x9-inch baking pan with no-stick cooking spray.

  • Step 2

    HEAT 2 tablespoons oil in large skillet. Add chicken. Brown over medium-high heat. Place skin side up in prepared pan.

  • Step 3

    HEAT remaining 2 tablespoons oil in small saucepan. Add garlic and onion. Cook and stir over medium heat until onion is tender. Stir in tomato sauce, chili sauce, honey, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, chili powder and celery seed. Pour over chicken.

  • Step 4

    BAKE 40 to 45 minutes or until chicken is done and juices run clear.
