Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 2 tbsps. Crisco® All-Vegetable Shortening
  • 2 tbsps. Crisco® Baking Sticks All-Vegetable Shortening
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 (8 oz) pkgs. fresh button mushrooms
  • Crisco® Pure Vegetable Oil

Directions

  • Step 1

    COMBINE flour, cheese, salt and garlic powder in small bowl. Stir in water, shortening and egg; beat until smooth.

  • Step 2

    PAT mushrooms dry. Dip mushrooms into batter.

  • Step 3

    HEAT oil to 365ºF in deep fryer or deep skillet. Fry mushrooms, a few at a time, until mushrooms are golden, about 3 minutes, turning once. Drain on paper towels. Salt lightly; serve immediately.
