Brown Sugar Apple Pie

INGREDIENTS:

  • CRUST
    •
  • Double Crust Classic Crisco Pie Crust
    •
  • FILLING
    •
  • 7 cups peeled, cored, sliced Granny Smith apples (about 2 1/3 pounds or 7 medium)
    •
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
    •
  • 1/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
    •
  • 1/4 cup Pillsbury BEST® All Purpose Flour
    •
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    •
  • 1/2 cup butter, cut into pieces
    •
  • GLAZE
    •
  • Milk
    •
  • Sugar
    •

PREPARATION DIRECTIONS:

  1. 1.
    PREPARE recipe for double crust pie. Roll out dough for bottom crust. Place in 9-inch pie plate. Press to fit without stretching dough. Trim even with pie plate. Do not bake.

    HEAT oven to 350°F.

  3. 3.
    PLACE apple slices in unbaked pie crust. Combine sugar, brown sugar and flour in small bowl; sprinkle over apples. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Dot with butter. Moisten pastry edge with water.

  4. 4.
    ROLL out dough for top crust. Place onto filled pie. Trim 1/2-inch beyond edge. Fold top crust under bottom crust edge to seal. Crimp and flute edges. Cut slits in top crust or prick with fork to allow steam to escape.

  5. 5.
    BRUSH top crust with milk; sprinkle with sugar.

  6. 6.
    BAKE 1 hour or until filling is bubbly and crust is golden brown. Cool to room temperature before serving.

Amazingly delicious This pie is amazingly delicious. Probably the best apple pie I have ever made, and I've made many. It was so easy to prepare. The only thing I did different was I used my own pie crust recipe. This is the only apple pie recipe I will be using from now on. Thanks for sharing it! November 15, 2012
The Best Apple Pie I love this recipe. I also use two kinds of apples and a small amount of nutmeg with the cinnamon. It comes out perfect everytime if you let it cool completely before cutting the first slice. And the crust...well you cant go wrong with Crisco. Its been around for years and it will be around for many more years to come (I hope)! I have made this several times and I have one in the oven right now. Thanks Crisco. August 27, 2012
This is a great recpie! I like the basic recipe and very easy to make if you make pies, I used two kinds of apples granny smith and glad I hope you all know what kind I mean their red and a little green. well the pies I made were a hit everyone loved them I will make this recipe for all my apple pies from now on thank you for the recipe...
