Did you know that Halloween is the second largest commercial holiday in the United States? However, you don't need elaborate costumes or gourmet treats to have fun. Instead, keep things simple with a few of our favorite Halloween recipes good for school, work, and play! You'll have just as much fun making them as you will eating them.

Take these precautions to have an exciting and safe Halloween:

  • Use costumes that are made from flame-resistant material.
  • Avoid masks that can impair vision or breathing.
  • Adjust costumes that are too long or loose to prevent tripping.
  • Purchase costume props (play knives, wands, swords, etc.) that are soft and flexible, with no sharp or pointy edges.
  • Attach reflective tape to dark costumes to make them visible to motorists.
  • Provide items such as a flashlight, reflective vest, ID bracelet, or walkie-talkies.
  • Accompany smaller children and have a designated meeting place in case you get separated.
  • Supply an umbrella and sweater for Halloween's unpredictable weather.

For a picture-perfect Halloween, make up a tray of Caramel Apples! Dress them up with chocolate covered toffee bits, crushed nuts, seasonal sprinkles, tinted coconut or chopped candy corn. And for a festive finishing touch, tuck each apple into a cellophane bag adorned with creepy Halloween stickers, tied up with black or orange ribbon.

Make yummy little punkins' for your little punkins'! Our Irresistible Peanut Butter Jack O Lanterns are a Halloween favorite. Pipe on a variety of expressive chocolate faces, from spooky to sweet, and then watch them disappear like magic!

This Halloween, surprise trick-or-treaters with spooky "hands" of sweet and salty Caramel Corn. Pick up a box of disposable food preparation gloves at your local restaurant supply or warehouse store, and then fill each glove with Caramel Corn. Insert candy corn for finger nails and tie the wrist with ribbon or twine.

Goblins of all ages can help make our Buckeyes, named for the nut of the Buckeye Tree. Place each candy in a seasonal mini cupcake paper for a neat Halloween treat.

Even your littlest goblin can help make Haystacks. All you have to do is microwave, stir, and spoon!

Spider Web Cupcakes take a little more work, but party guests will like the spider ring souvenir. Bumpy Highway Cake is a more sophisticated sweet (despite the name!) and works well at the office or parties.
